Apogonichthyoides melas, commonly known as the Black cardinalfish, is an easy and friendly schooling fish. This mostly black fish has a large spot in the second dorsal fin and a little yellow in the dorsal and tail fin.

It’s a nocturnal species, so during the day it mostly hides in the shadows of a rock or coral and will come out once light is dimmed. An easy fish which can be kept in a couple but will do best in a school and will eat almost anything you offer.
