Salifert Magnesium Powder
This powder is very effective in increasing the magnesium concentration in seawater aquariums, however, it is not ionically balanced to aid in the maintenance of the kH buffer and should therefore be used as a one-time major corrective measure. Magnesium is present in NSW (natural sea water) in a fairly high concentration (1350 – 1500 mg / L). Magnesium is an essential part of chlorophyll, which is required for photosynthesis. Without photosynthesis, the algae and the corals, which we have in our aquariums, cannot survive. Magnesium also has another important function in maintaining the correct combination of calcium concentration and alkalinity or carbonate hardness.

Maintaining a correct concentration of magnesium is therefore very important and is indirectly responsible for rapid coral and lime algae growth. Magnesium is consumed by algae growth and also by using a lot of lime water or by high calcium concentrations, high alkalinity and pH values. All ingredients are pharmaceutical grade or even better. This ensures that no unwanted elements are added to your valuable aquarium.
