Scattered Pacific and eastern Indian Ocean localities, Indonesia. Papua new Guinea, Solomons, Fiji, Palau, Guam, the Philippines, north to Ogasawara Islands and Cocos-Keeling, south of Java. A very shy and rarely seen species usually found upside down in caves, or under steep walls where it is darker, at depths of 24 to over 75m. It is mostly yellow with a large blue area on back and spinous part of dorsal fin. Length to 9cm.
